Independent Ireland is dedicated to tackling government mismanagement of taxpayer funds and reallocating funding to the areas the Irish taxpayers need it most. Tackling overspend and waste means improving the lives of the people of Ireland. While we recognise the many NGO’s in Ireland that provide vital services and support, we will work to radically reform this sector.
My name is Barry Kieran and I am running in the Dundalk South LEA for the Independent Ireland party in the upcoming local elections in June. As an entrepreneur with over a decade of experience, I’ve firsthand seen the challenges small businesses face, driving my commitment to support them and advocate for common-sense policies.
My disillusionment with current government policies, especially concerning immigration, housing, and healthcare, has deepened my resolve to seek change. This passion is mirrored in my work since 2018 with children with additional needs, exposing me to the urgent reforms needed in our public service sectors.
Choosing to run with Independent Ireland aligns with my belief in integrity, accountability, and practical governance. My background equips me uniquely to address Ireland’s challenges, championing small business support, and advocating for families facing public service inefficiencies. I am motivated to bring my entrepreneurial insight and advocacy experience to Independent Ireland, driven by a vision for a more inclusive, equitable Ireland where businesses thrive and societal needs are promptly met.
It is one of the primary goals of Independent Ireland to deliver new voices of common sense to our local councils. I will be a strong advocate for the people of Dundalk while focusing on key areas to improve our communities:
Prioritising the urgent need for investment into mental health along with support and resources for children with additional needs to ensure inclusive education and community activities.
Working closely with local businesses to address their unique challenges, fostering growth and innovation in Dundalk South.
Boosting local development with targeted investments in community centers, green spaces, and sports facilities to enhance quality of life.
Expanding housing assistance for older residents and those with special needs, ensuring safe, comfortable living conditions.
Addressing local infrastructure issues head-on with planned upgrades and maintenance to roads, utilities, and public services.
Advocating for balanced parenting laws and support systems that recognise the vital role of fathers in child development.
Encouraging local talent and community unity by providing grants for sports teams and community groups.
Increasing access to affordable housing through realistic grants and support, making homeownership achievable for more families.
Strengthening community safety with more policing resources, enhanced training, and community policing initiatives.
“Our goal is to deliver real change for the people of Ireland. We are a party that puts our people first. By delivering on a program of reform and common sense solutions, together, we can build a better future for everyone”
